Harvey Black Jr., of Lonoke was born December 1st, 1935 in Clarendon, Arkansas and passed away on Sunday January 17th, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents Harvey Sr. and Sadie Black.
Mr. Black was retired from the United State Air Force, the Civil Service and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the International Association of Laryngectomees and the Tap organization, he was also President of the Lost Chord Club of Central Arkansas and a Master Mason. Mr. Black spent time traveling to schools and teaching children on the dangers of smoking.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lisette Black; two children, Steve (Rhonda) Black of Vilonia and David Black of Holly Grove; one sister, Mary Nell (Don) Haler of Sherwood ; grandchildren, Bryan (Lawanne) Black of Dewitt, Jennifer (Josh) Bryant of Greenbrier, Brandy (Brian) Grigsby of Monroe; six great grandchildren and nephews Randy (Mary) Haler and Gary (Kim) Haler.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 20th, 2010, at 10:00 am at Griffin Leggett Rest Hill Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, in North Little Rock with visitation on Tuesday, January 19th, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at the Shady Grove Cemetery in Clarendon, Arkansas at 1:00 pm.
